Full Tilt Poker Academy Review

A poker site has finally recently entered the poker training market, enter Full Tilt Poker Academy! And best of all this is free to any current or new Full Tilt member, so the only requirement is simply that, sign up to Full Tilt Poker and get FREE poker training.

The site features video’s from several Full Tilt pros such as Chris Ferguson, Howard Lederer, Paul Wasicka, Phil Gordon, Andy Bloch, Jennifer Harmon, Allen Cunningham and several others FT red pros so its a star studded cast of instructors. Having said that the instruction is not up to par honestly with any of the other paid sites, or anywhere close to it. The bulk of the information is extremely general information & most of can be found in any entry level book or even poker magazines, which gives an indication as to how basic the information is.

The layout of the site itself is very well layed out & very professional in nature. Nothing less than what you would expect from Full Tilt Poker. There is really no way to get lost or confused maneuvering through the site as it is very user friendly. The videos themselves are very well produced. Among the best in the business. There is nothing wrong with the video’s production, only the quality of the content. The length of the video’s also leaves much to be desires as several are under the 15 minute mark. The videos themselves are categorized as Strategy, Cash, Tournament, and SNG videos. The games covered in the video’s are Holdem both No Limit & Pot Limit, HORSE, & Omaha Hi Low.

One of the puzzling aspects of the site is the video’s are rated for difficulty level. This is puzzling in that the videos are are almost all what would be considered rudimentary level videos by other training sites. This perhaps is one feature that would have been better off left out.The site offers quizzes after viewing a video and most require some play at the site to generate points for purchasing items in a store dedicated to the site. You acquire the points which are called Academy credits by playing at the site and applying what you have learned from the site. Available for purchase on the site is a membership to CardRunners training site which would probably be your best bet in all honesty. You do not need to play at Full Tilt in order to watch all the videos but you will need play there in order to accumulate points. Your progress throughout the quizzes and challenges is monitored on the site through a section called My Academy.

While the site itself is a marketing ploy there is no outright sales pitch from any of the instructors, not that it would be bad considering the stellar reputation of Full Tilt and its position in the industry as one of the largest and most respected poker sites.Having said that the videos leave much to be desired and really would be most useful to the entry level players out there. If anyone is beyond the novice stage of the game you would be better suited elsewhere. With the instructors the site has this could have been a site to be reckoned with but instead turned out to be a letdown for anyone with the slightest bit of poker knowledge. If you have a friend who is interested in learning the game(s) this would serve as a good site for them.
