Brian “sbrugby” Townsend became known around the poker world by becoming one of the most feared short handed online poker players in his early days at Full Tilt Poker. He has always been deeply involved with the online poker community and posts regularly on many poker forums including the popular 2+2 forum. Brian is also the head instructor for the popular CardRunners training website where he alongside other pros, teach poker players how to become better players.
Over the years Townsend has begun getting more involved in the live multi-table tournament structure and has made multiple appearances in both WSOP and WPT events. He has yet to win a WSOP bracelet or a WPT title, but he has come close on several occasions in the past. Brian has appeared on the TV show Poker After Dark where he actually won first place out of the six players and took home the $120K prize.
Townsend has also appeared on several other poker TV shows including High Stakes Poker which was televised on the Game Show Network channel. Last year in 2008 Brian signed a contract to become a Full Tilt Pro, but he was soon suspended because he was caught playing with multiple accounts. All players have to follow the rules, and one of those rules is noone can use more then one account. Townsend received a six month suspension from Full Tilt Poker for his actions. Brian has had some real close calls in the past in live tournaments, but has never won a major event. Some of his best finishes are as followed.
