CardRunners Bolsters Tournament Instruction With New Pros

Travis Rice and Devin Porter Join the CardRunners Educational Staff.

CardRunners.com, the leading poker instructional website, is proud to announce the addition of Travis “TravestyFund” Rice and Devin “Tranquil Chaos” Porter to its roster of poker professionals. Rice and Porter will join Brian Townsend, Taylor Caby, Brian “Stinger” Hastings, Cole “cts” South, Ryan Daut, Eric Liu, Mike Schneider, “Action” Jeff Garza, and Isaac “Menlo” Baron in producing the downloadable strategy videos that have made the site the class of the industry.

Rice is only 25 years old, but he has already accumulated an impressive live tournament resume, with over $1 million in winnings since 2007. Most recently, he won the Aruba Poker Classic for $800,000, and he also boasts a six-figure victory at the Los Angeles Poker Classic and two World Series of Poker final tables.

Rice is also experienced on the virtual felt. Like so many of the young superstars, he built his bankroll by grinding sit-and-go tournaments, and since then has been a winner at every level of online tournaments. Travis has already won $100,000 online in 2008, including a victory in the PokerStars $100 rebuy. His calm yet fearless demeanor was strengthened from years of experience in the underground cardrooms in Dallas.

?I have spent the last five years of my life learning poker. A lot of that time was spent in brick-and-mortar casinos, even though most of my hands have been played online. I?ve played every variation of poker imaginable: cash games, live tournaments, sit-and-gos, satellites, and innumerable other forms of online tournaments. This has provided me with a very balanced perspective on the game,? said Rice. ?With this diverse background, I will be able to relate to CardRunners? whole membership, teaching them and increasing their winrates. Throughout my childhood, I was constantly told that there is always room for improvement. In poker, I?ve turned that concept into the idea of ?perpetual improvement??that we?re always adapting, growing, and learning. I can?t wait to take a step back and meticulously analyze and discuss my play with a whole world of intelligent, aspiring, and perpetually improving players at CardRunners.?

With Porter, CardRunners adds another successful tournament pro with nearly a million dollars in winnings. Despite playing live events infrequently, Porter is recognized for his back-to-back WPT final tables in 2005 and 2006 (the first two he entered). He has enjoyed continued success in online tournaments as well as on the live tournament circuit, including a $139,000 score at the 2007 World Series of Poker. Porter brings a highly developed ?feel? for his opponents to the tournament instructional mix, and even his analysis of action in which he is not a participant will be appreciated by many members. Additionally, Porter will be the first tournament player jointly sponsored by CardRunners and Full Tilt Poker in the 2008 World Series of Poker.

Taylor Caby, co-founder of CardRunners, said:

“With the addition of Travis and Devin, CardRunners adds $2 million in live tournament winnings, three WSOP final tables, two WPT final tables, and countless online scores. These guys are eloquent instructors and great thinkers, and they will make an immediate impact on anyone looking to improve their tournament game.”
